On Friday, January 15, 1971, Braniff International's new Boeing 747-127 registered as N601BN and dubbed 747 Braniff Place, The Most Exclusive Address In The Sky, roared into the bright Texas sunshine and turned westbound for the inaugural 747 flight to Honolulu, Hawaii. This flight marked the historic beginning of Jumbo Jet service at Braniff Airways and the beginning of a new look for the Dallas-based luxury airline.
